Usually, one fixed-size capsule filling machine cannot be used for every capsule size. This is because Size 000, 00, 0, 1, 2 and 3 capsules have different diameters and lengths.
Why are filling machines size-specific?
A capsule machine holds and aligns capsule bodies and caps in precisely sized openings. If the openings are too large, capsules may move or tilt. If they are too small, the capsules may not fit at all.
Example: can a Size 0 machine fill Size 00 capsules?
A fixed Size 0 machine should not be assumed to work with Size 00 capsules. Size 00 is larger than Size 0, so the holding plates and closing components are different.
What about Size 3 and Size 000?
These are very different sizes. Size 000 is one of the largest commonly used human capsule sizes, while Size 3 is much smaller. A machine designed for one should not be used for the other.
Are there adjustable machines?
Some professional equipment may use interchangeable parts or change parts for different capsule sizes. That is different from a simple fixed-size manual capsule filling machine. Check the manufacturer’s specification before assuming a machine is multi-size.
