Size 5 is the smallest standard human capsule size in the Pure Capsules® range. It is useful when the formulation volume is very small or when a compact capsule is preferred.
How much does a Size 5 capsule hold?
Approximate internal volume is 0.13 mL. Using typical powder densities, an approximate fill range is 78–156 mg. This is only a guide: actual fill weight depends on powder bulk density, particle characteristics and filling method.
Size 5 dimensions
Approximate locked length is 11.1 mm, with an external cap diameter around 4.91 mm and body diameter around 4.68 mm. Always check the specification of the exact capsule product and filling equipment before ordering.
When is Size 5 useful?
Size 5 can suit low-volume powders and projects where a smaller shell is desirable. A smaller capsule does not automatically mean a particular milligram dose will fit: volume and powder density determine capacity.
